Speaking at the valedictory session, Ms. Banerjee said a total of 188 Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) and Letters of Intent (LoIs) were signed.
According to the Chief Minister, the event was a truly global event, attended by approximately 5,000 delegates and 400 international delegates from 17 partner countries, corporate and official delegations from nearly 400 countries, and 15 ambassadors and high commissioners.
Ms. Banerjee also spoke about the Central Investigation Agencies and said that they were breathing down the neck of industrialists. He said the industry should not tolerate harassment by these agencies. On the second and last day of BGBS, multi-company conglomerate ITC launched ITCMAARS (Meta-Market for Advanced Agriculture and Rural Services), the company’s pioneering super program and embedded ecosystem in West Bengal.
ITC Chairman and CEO Sanjiv Puri, who co-chaired the agriculture and allied sectors summit, said 93 MoUs were signed by state governments and private sector players in agriculture and allied sectors. These investment proposals were worth Rs 1,314 crore.
Around 25 MoUs worth around Rs 7,933 crore have been signed in the health sector. The IT and ITeS sector has received five MoUs with investment proposals worth around Rs 4,000 crore.
Other highlights of the corporate summit include Coca-Cola India signing an MoU with tea company Luxmi Tea to enter the world of ready-to-drink tea and offer a wider range of beverages to consumers.
Ride-hailing app Uber and the Ministry of Transport and the Government of West Bengal have signed an MoU to launch the Uber Shuttle bus service for daily commuting in Kolkata. “As part of this MoU, Uber plans to invest $10 million in the state by 2025 and create approximately 50,000 jobs in Kolkata over the next five years,” the company said. By March 202 , Uber plans to operate around 60 air-conditioned buses on predefined routes connecting business districts to residential areas in Kolkata.
The West Bengal government has also received investment proposals worth ₹1,676 crore and ₹36 crore for school education and higher education, respectively.
Reliance invested Rs 45,000 cr in state, says Mukesh Ambani
